Dear incoming students!
Our department provides its approximately 1000 students with practice-oriented and up-to-date teaching. 20 professors and a broad-based teaching staff lecture in 22 subject areas, organized into four institutes: Architectural Design, Art and Theory; Building Design and Technology; Urban and Landscape Design; and the History of Art and Architecture.
In addition to Architecture in the bachelor's and master's programs, it is also possible to study Art History in the bachelor's and master's programs. There is also the possibility to participate in a German-French double master program in cooperation with the École Nationale Supérieure de l'Architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS).
Our international students benefit from our wide range of courses with a variety of English language seminars and lectures as well as our excellent, internal departmental facilities such as the Southwest German Archive for Architecture and Civil Engineering (Südwestdeutschen Archiv für Architektur und Ingenieurbau), the faculty's own specialized library, excellently equipped study workshops for wood and metalworking, model making, photography and digital fabrication, computer and plotting pools accessible around the clock, as well as our own workstations in spacious and bright studio rooms for all bachelor students of Architecture and a large number of master students.
Even leisure time is not neglected when studying at KIT. Each semester, lecture series, exhibitions, lectures, symposia, and events are on offer. An active students’ union regularly organizes events and helps to establish contacts with other students. Before your arrival in Karlsruhe, we will already assign a buddy to you who will assist you with all questions concerning your studies and your start in Karlsruhe. Karlsruhe's student life is vibrant and offers many opportunities for every taste. Last but not least, Karlsruhe impresses with its excellent location with the Black Forest and France as well as many other large cities within easy reach (Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt/Main). Thus, your semester abroad will be an unforgettable experience, not only at our KIT-Department but also in Karlsruhe.
