Department Council

Excerpt from the KIT Law:
The KIT Faculty Council deals with all matters of fundamental importance to the KIT faculty. It is responsible for the following tasks in particular:

  • Election of the KIT Dean and the KIT Deans of Studies,
  • Advising on the KIT faculty's contribution to the departmental contribution for the structure and development plan,
  • Approval of study, examination and doctoral regulations,
  • Implementation of doctoral and habilitation procedures,
  • Proposal for the awarding of the title "Associate Professor" and "Associate Professor" as well as for the appointment of honorary professors,
  • Nomination of members for the part of the appointment committees to be appointed by the KIT faculty,
  • Consultation on appointment proposals for the positions for university lecturers at KIT assigned to the KIT faculty,
  • Teaching evaluation matters
  • Co-optation and association
  • Consultation on the functional description of positions for university lecturers at KIT within the scope of participation

The tasks of the study commission include, in particular, drawing up recommendations for the further development of subjects and forms of study as well as for the use of funds earmarked for studies and teaching and participating in the evaluation of teaching, including student criticism of courses.

Examination boards

Excerpt from the study and examination regulations:
The Examination Board ensures compliance with the provisions of the study and examination regulations and makes decisions on examination matters. It decides on the recognition of study periods as well as study and examination achievements. It regularly reports to the KIT faculty on the development of examination and study times, including the processing times for final theses and the distribution of module and overall grades. It is responsible for suggestions regarding the reform of study and examination regulations and module descriptions.
