Variety and diversity
Our department is characterized by diversity. Cooperation at our faculty is based on respect, appreciation and recognition and is geared towards trusting collaboration. Through their behavior, all faculty members work together towards a trusting relationship that is free of discrimination, intolerance and offensive behavior.
No one at department or at KIT is discriminated against on the basis of gender, disability, ethnic and/or social origin, nationality, religion or ideology, age, sexual orientation or identity, unproven accusations or other characteristics. All department members maintain a non-discriminatory study and work environment and respect the dignity of every individual in their daily interactions.
As part of a university and a place for open discourse, we all have a special social responsibility arising from this objective. It consists not only of complying with the law and upholding academic honesty, but also includes special ethical requirements for the actions of all faculty members, such as respectful and collegial interaction, personal integrity, the rejection of corruption, respect for ecological concerns and the condemnation of discrimination of any kind.
Diversity requires active and constructive cooperation, but conflicts can still arise. It is particularly important then to refer to a common self-image or, if necessary, to make use of mediation or counseling services.
