Florian Kaiser

Florian Kaiser, Atelier Kaiser Shen (Stuttgart), will take up the newly created tenure-track professorship "Circular timber construction" in the winter semester 24/25.

Florian Kaiser, born in 1987 in Biberach a. d. Riß, studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart, where he graduated in 2012 with several awards. During his studies, he worked in various offices in Stuttgart, London and Beijing. After graduating, he worked for Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. From 2016 to 2020, he taught at the Institute for Building Construction 3, Prof. Jens Ludloff, at the University of Stuttgart and founded the architecture firm "Atelier Kaiser Shen" together with Guobin Shen in 2017. Their work has been recognized with various prizes, including first prize in the "Houses of the Year 2023" award (Deutsches Architekturmuseum and Callwey-Verlag), an award in the AR House Award 2024 (Architectural Review, London) and the special prize in the Houses Award 2024 (Bundesstiftung Baukultur). In 2020, he was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA) and in 2022 he held his first solo exhibition entitled "Unfinished Houses" at the Architekturgalerie am Weißenhof. Since June 2024, Florian Kaiser has been running Atelier Kaiser Shen with the support of associates Kilian Juraschitz, Johannes Schreiner and Matthias Stauch. Atelier Kaiser Shen develops projects from the urban planning idea to the built detail.
