RoofKIT on the KIT Campus South

RoofKIT was one of 18 entries in the Solar Decathlon Europe 21-22, in which student teams from international colleges and universities each constructed a fully functional building prototype in Wuppertal in the summer of 2022, with which they competed against each other in ten different architectural and construction disciplines.

The team from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology won the Solar Decathlon Europe 21-22 with the RoofKIT project. In two and a half years of intensive interdisciplinary teamwork in teaching, research and practice, students and lecturers tackled the issues of sustainable resource consumption, renewable energy generation and coexistence in the city of the future from an architectural perspective.
