Sharif Kahatt and Marta Morelli

Sharif Kahatt and Marta Morelli are professors at the Faculty of Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and have been partners at K+M Arquitectura y Urbanismo since 2010. Both head the Urban Lima design studio at the PUCP, whose work has led to publications such as the book "Edificios híbridos en Lima. Estrategias proyectuales para edificios públicos en altura" (2014) and exhibitions such as "Lima. Framing the collective" at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2019. Sharif has also led a research project on collective housing in recent years, which was selected as the Peruvian pavilion at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale. He has also published two books: "Utopias construidas. Las unidades vecinales de Lima" (2015) and "Atlas de la vivienda colectiva de Lima" (2024).

At the same time, Studio K+M is working on architecture and urban development projects in various cities in Peru. Some of these projects have received several awards, such as the Urbanism Prize of the International Architecture Biennial Lima 2021, the General Architecture Prize of the International Architecture Biennial Lima 2023 and the selection as a finalist for the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) 2024. The studio's work has also been recognized in various publications, including the first monographic edition of the series "El Material de lo Construido" by Bisman Ediciones in 2023.

As part of a research grant to study collective housing during the Weimar Republic, Sharif will participate in activities of the Chair of Building and Architectural History, Institute of Art and Architectural History, together with Prof. Joaquín Medina Warmburg. On Thursday, January 23, Sharif will give a lecture on his latest book on collective housing in Lima. Marta Morelli, on the other hand, who was invited by the Chair of Space and Design under the direction of Prof. Marc Frohn, will take part in the course as a guest critic.
