Neu an der Fakultät: Thomas Busch
After training as a carpenter in Berlin, Thomas Busch studied product design at the HfG Karlsruhe. After several positions at classic design studios, he worked as a freelance carpenter in Berlin for six years, completing both commissioned work and his own projects. These included sculptures for artists, model making, classic interior design work and public commissions.
In close collaboration with the clients, he developed a realization that exploited many possibilities of materials, production methods and budgets, from high-tech to low-tech.
"As workshop manager, I see the workshop as a place where creative ideas are put into practice. My goal is to provide students with a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment in which they can realize their architectural visions.
For me, mistakes are part of the learning process and I encourage experimentation and independent work.
It is important to me to promote diversity in the workshop and to create a space where everyone can work respectfully and equally."
